Face Coverings In Ellison View Surgery

Despite several legal changes in the COVID pandemic regulations this week, face coverings and face masks will continue to be required in health and care settings to comply with infection prevention and control (IPC) and adult social care guidance. This includes hospitals and primary or community care settings, such as GP surgeries. Ellison View Surgery ask that all please follow this advice when visiting the practice.

You are required to wear a face covering on entering these healthcare settings and must keep it on until you leave unless you are exempt or have a reasonable excuse for removing it.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

COVID-19 Third Dose Vaccine – Eligibility for, and timing, of, a third primary dose vaccination as part of a primary course are based on an individual with severe immunosuppression’s clinical needs, informed by the timing of their specific theraputic interventions and personal care plan. If you fit this criteria, you will be contacted by your consultant, who will provide you with the appropriate documentation or if you have been identified by the GP practice, we will complete a PSD form.

COVID-19 Booster Vaccine – The following people should be offered a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the same order as the first part of the vaccination programme.

  • Those living in residential care homes for older adults.
  • All adults aged 50 years or over.
  • Frontline health and social care workers.
  • All those aged 16 to 49 years with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID-19 (as set out in the green book), and adult carers.
  • Adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals.

The JCVI advises that the booster vaccine dose should be offered no earlier than six months (180 days) after completion of the first course of vaccination.

COVID-19 Restrictions

As you know, many of the remaining COVID-19 restrictions in England are due to be lifted from Monday 19th July. However, we want to explain to you why we will continue to ask you to wear a face covering and help us maintain social distancing in practice.

Our priority is keeping you safe

Our number one priority is the safety of our patients and staff. Throughout the pandemic we have followed the governments COVID-19 safety rules for general practice, and these will NOT change on Monday 19th July.

We will therefore still ask you to:

  • Wear a face covering in our practice
  • Attend alone where possible
  • Use our hand sanitiser when you arrive
  • Confirm that you don’t have any symptoms of COVID-19

We will be maintaining social distancing throughout our practice too, so please continue to follow any directions you receive from our team.
